ht na comunidade de Usonia, em Nova York. Ele atribui sua longevidade =C3=

egrada =C3=A0 paisagem. A casa, constru=C3=ADda em 1951 e expandida em 1956=
, foi idealizada para ser parte da colina que a abriga, com teto baixo, esp=

1. O modernismo brasileiro revive, mas reinterpretado. Qual o ponto de equi=
l=C3=ADbrio entre reescrever uma tradi=C3=A7=C3=A3o e reinventar seu sentid=
o no mundo contempor=C3=A2neo?
O modernismo foi um movimento poderoso, e, na minha opini=C3=A3o, foi no Br=
asil onde ele atingiu sua maior pot=C3=AAncia. Com ra=C3=ADzes no racionali=
smo europeu, especialmente nas ideias de Le Corbusier - que chegou a atuar =
como consultor do projeto do Minist=C3=A9rio da Educa=C3=A7=C3=A3o e Sa=C3=
=BAde no Rio de Janeiro -, o modernismo ganhou uma for=C3=A7a =C3=BAnica ao=
 ser tropicalizado. =C3=89 imposs=C3=ADvel ignorar o impacto que esse movim=
ento teve na minha gera=C3=A7=C3=A3o e em todas as que vieram depois. Num s=
egundo momento, nomes como Lina Bo Bardi e Paulo Mendes da Rocha reinventar=
am essa tradi=C3=A7=C3=A3o, ampliando suas possibilidades e tra=C3=A7ando n=
ovos caminhos para a arquitetura brasileira. A partir deles, formou-se um c=
onjunto de valores que moldaram uma identidade nacional muito pr=C3=B3pria:=
 uma arquitetura sem excessos, racional, mas profundamente sens=C3=ADvel ao=
 clima, =C3=A0 cultura e =C3=A0s contradi=C3=A7=C3=B5es do Brasil. Arquitet=
uras como as de Zaha Hadid ou Frank Gehry, por mais incr=C3=ADveis que seja=
m em seus contextos, s=C3=A3o simplesmente incompat=C3=ADveis com nossa his=
t=C3=B3ria. N=C3=A3o se trata de uma quest=C3=A3o de qualidade, mas de coer=
=C3=AAncia. O Brasil n=C3=A3o poderia ter produzido esses gestos formais po=
rque carrega, at=C3=A9 hoje, os princ=C3=ADpios modernistas como uma base s=
=C3=B3lida e =C3=A9tica - uma arquitetura mais contida, mais silenciosa. E =
talvez, justamente por isso, t=C3=A3o potente.
2. A constru=C3=A7=C3=A3o hoje insere identidade - ou repete f=C3=B3rmulas =
universais? O que se ganha (e se perde) quando se projeta sem territ=C3=B3r=
io?
A arquitetura hoje evolui com novas t=C3=A9cnicas construtivas, mas a lingu=
agem permanece fiel aos fundamentos. Projetar sem territ=C3=B3rio =C3=A9 co=
mo desenhar um edif=C3=ADcio sem saber onde ele vai estar - simplesmente n=
=C3=A3o existe. O lugar =C3=A9 o ponto de partida de qualquer projeto.
3. A arquitetura pode ser sustent=C3=A1vel sem abrir m=C3=A3o do desejo? Ou=
 seguiremos ref=C3=A9ns da est=C3=A9tica crua do =E2=80=9Cpoliticamente cor=
reto ecol=C3=B3gico=E2=80=9D?
A sustentabilidade =C3=A9 inevit=C3=A1vel - =C3=A9 o futuro do planeta. Ape=
sar dos boicotes e do discurso vazio em torno do =E2=80=9Cpoliticamente cor=
reto ecol=C3=B3gico=E2=80=9D, ela precisa ser prioridade. Por que fazer um =
pr=C3=A9dio que consome energia se ele pode gerar a pr=C3=B3pria? Por que d=
esmatar uma floresta quando =C3=A9 poss=C3=ADvel manejar os insumos de form=
a inteligente? Numa perspectiva evolutiva, aprendemos a abrigar-nos, a cons=
truir, a melhorar os m=C3=A9todos de constru=C3=A7=C3=A3o e, mais recenteme=
nte, chegamos a um ponto em que podemos projetar e construir olhando para o=
 futuro. Podemos transformar o nosso ambiente, o nosso espa=C3=A7o, conside=
rando a preserva=C3=A7=C3=A3o dos recursos naturais, o que resulta na nossa=
 pr=C3=B3pria preserva=C3=A7=C3=A3o e, potencialmente, na nossa evolu=C3=A7=
=C3=A3o.
4. Com tantas imagens e tantas falas, o que faz uma obra calar o mundo ao r=
edor? O que ainda tem poder de parar algu=C3=A9m no meio do feed - ou de um=
a cidade?
A miss=C3=A3o da arquitetura =C3=A9 melhorar o mundo. Mesmo que o impacto s=
eja pequeno, se for positivo, j=C3=A1 vale. Esse deve ser o foco - n=C3=A3o=
 criar marcos que sirvam apenas para parar carros e tirar fotos, mas fazer =
bem feito, em qualquer escala. Em S=C3=A3o Paulo, tudo =C3=A9 mal feito. As=
 ruas, as cal=C3=A7adas, as leis. A cidade =C3=A9 hostil. Um cadeirante n=
=C3=A3o consegue dar a volta em um quarteir=C3=A3o, nem um pedestre. As cal=
=C3=A7adas s=C3=A3o como propriedade privada, de responsabilidade individua=
l do lote, e este =C3=A9 um dos maiores absurdos que existem. A rua =C3=A9 =
p=C3=BAblica - deveria ser tratada como tal, com o mesmo cuidado. A prefeit=
ura =C3=A9 desconectada da cidade e da sua hist=C3=B3ria. N=C3=A3o h=C3=A1 =
projeto urbano, n=C3=A3o h=C3=A1 continuidade, n=C3=A3o h=C3=A1 o m=C3=ADni=
mo. At=C3=A9 os sinais de pedestre duram dois segundos. =C3=89 um sistema q=
ue naturalizou o desrespeito =C3=A0 cidade e =C3=A0s pessoas.
Quando a arquitetura volta a ser estrutura
O NSW Awards 2025 me chamou aten=C3=A7=C3=A3o pelas escolhas - e por isso r=
esolvi compartilhar. Em vez do espet=C3=A1culo f=C3=A1cil, a premia=C3=A7=
=C3=A3o destacou arquitetura que constr=C3=B3i legado: inova=C3=A7=C3=A3o c=
om responsabilidade, respeito ao patrim=C3=B4nio e impacto real na vida p=
=C3=BAblica. Seriedade, consci=C3=AAncia - e uma pista do que vale ser valo=
rizado. O projeto vencedor, das novas esta=C3=A7=C3=B5es de metr=C3=B4 de S=
ydney, foi chamado pelo j=C3=BAri de =E2=80=9Ccriador de legado=E2=80=9D e =
=E2=80=9Cmodelador de cidade=E2=80=9D. N=C3=A3o s=C3=B3 pelas solu=C3=A7=C3=
=B5es de transporte, mas por redefinir a experi=C3=AAncia c=C3=ADvica da ca=
pital, conectando dezenas de escrit=C3=B3rios e especialidades em um esfor=
=C3=A7o coletivo exemplar. Elizabeth Carpenter, presidente do Instituto Aus=
traliano de Arquitetos de NSW, resumiu bem: arquitetura =C3=A9 arte, mas ta=
mb=C3=A9m =C3=A9 responsabilidade. Uma arte que conecta, amplia repert=C3=
=B3rios culturais e ajuda a imaginar futuros mais sustent=C3=A1veis - e men=
os vaidosos. Outros premiados seguiram a mesma linha: obras de restaura=C3=
=A7=C3=A3o, projetos residenciais originais (como a exc=C3=AAntrica Babylon=
, dos anos 1950, cheia de contradi=C3=A7=C3=B5es deliciosas) e centros urba=
nos pensados com o p=C3=A9 no ch=C3=A3o. Talvez esse seja o verdadeiro pr=
=C3=AAmio: quando se escolhe n=C3=A3o o que impressiona, mas o que permanec=
e.
A afinidade entre Kogan e a Minotti vem do mesmo DNA: reinterpretar a tradi=
=C3=A7=C3=A3o com olhar contempor=C3=A2neo. Como diz Roberto Minotti, ele t=
raduziu o estilo americano dos anos 1950 de forma nova e absolutamente mode=
rna, projetando-o para o futuro. Essa sintonia atingiu o auge na cole=C3=A7=
=C3=A3o Brasilia, de 2021 - minha favorita. Inspirada no Brasil ut=C3=B3pic=
o dos anos 1950, =C3=A9 um encontro raro entre mem=C3=B3ria e futuro, tradu=
zido em design que j=C3=A1 nasceu cl=C3=A1ssico.
Sof=C3=A1 Brasilia - Modernismo brasileiro em linhas puras e volumes precis=
os. A madeira nobre dialoga com metal e tecidos, criando uma presen=C3=A7a =
arquitet=C3=B4nica que equilibra rigor geom=C3=A9trico e calor t=C3=A1til.
Poltrona Brasilia - Escultura habit=C3=A1vel que revisita o design de meado=
s do s=C3=A9culo. Estrutura de madeira envolvente e estofado generoso expre=
ssam a eleg=C3=A2ncia contida da obra de Kogan.
Cama Brasilia - Cabeceira arquitet=C3=B4nica que integra madeira e tecido e=
m harmonia estrutural. Um gesto cont=C3=ADnuo que traduz o modernismo em pe=
=C3=A7a central da narrativa visual do quarto.
Aparador Superquadra -Geometria limpa e volumes assim=C3=A9tricos remetem =
=C3=A0 utopia urbana dos anos 1950. Materiais nobres e propor=C3=A7=C3=B5es=
 precisas revelam um luxo silencioso e atemporal.
Visionnaire assina ref=C3=BAgio em Ibiza
O ver=C3=A3o est=C3=A1 a todo vapor no hemisf=C3=A9rio norte - e em Ibiza, =
ele encontra na rec=C3=A9m-lan=C3=A7ada resid=C3=AAncia da marca italiana V=
isionnaire um ref=C3=BAgio sensorial e duradouro. Assinada pelo arquiteto A=
ntonio Baroncelli, do escrit=C3=B3rio MetroArea Architetti Associati, a cas=
a =C3=A9 um santu=C3=A1rio suave e natural, esculpido delicadamente na enco=
sta, com volumes que seguem as curvas do terreno. Luz, ar, terra e c=C3=A9u=
 fluem juntos: paredes de vidro deslizam como membranas, canopies e jardins=
 suspensos borram os limites entre dentro e fora. No cora=C3=A7=C3=A3o da r=
esid=C3=AAncia, um p=C3=A1tio em refer=C3=AAncia ao impluvium romano coleta=
 as =C3=A1guas da chuva, canalizando-as por uma queda d=E2=80=99=C3=A1gua a=
t=C3=A9 um riacho que liga duas piscinas. A proposta criativa de Eleonore C=
avalli nasceu da for=C3=A7a do mar, da natureza e do verde profundo da ilha=

os que t=C3=AAm marcado outras reflex=C3=B5es recentes sobre como o habitar=
 contempor=C3=A2neo traz mais =E2=80=9Cescuta=E2=80=9D que ostenta=C3=A7=C3=
=A3o.
O retorno da superf=C3=ADcie que emociona
Nos =C3=BAltimos anos, a est=C3=A9tica minimalista reduziu a superf=C3=ADci=
e a coadjuvante. Tons neutros e aus=C3=AAncia de ornamento pareciam a =C3=
=BAnica linguagem poss=C3=ADvel. Mas um movimento silencioso est=C3=A1 em c=
urso: a volta da superf=C3=ADcie emocional. T=C3=AAxteis, pap=C3=A9is de pa=
rede, tape=C3=A7arias e revestimentos recuperam o protagonismo - n=C3=A3o c=
omo enfeite, mas como narrativa visual. Este ano, em Mil=C3=A3o, mesmo com =
os neutros ainda dominando a l=C3=B3gica, o que vi foram texturas infinitas=
=2E Paredes, m=C3=B3veis e tecidos gan=
haram relevos, tramas, ondula=C3=A7=C3=
=B5es e toques inesperados que transformavam a neutralidade em experi=C3=AA=
ncia sensorial. N=C3=A3o era sobre cor, mas sobre presen=C3=A7a: superf=C3=
=ADcies que convidavam o olhar e pediam a m=C3=A3o. Foi com essa chave de l=
eitura que vivi o lan=C3=A7amento da Liberty Interiors no Brasil, represent=
ada agora pela By Tri Brands, refer=C3=AAncia em tecidos e pap=C3=A9is de p=
arede de alto luxo. Divis=C3=A3o da ic=C3=B4nica Liberty London, fundada h=
=C3=A1 mais de 150 anos, ela carrega um acervo de estampas autorais - flora=
is, grafismos e releituras do Art Nouveau e Art D=C3=A9co - que h=C3=A1 d=
=C3=A9cadas s=C3=A3o refer=C3=AAncia global. N=C3=A3o por acaso, Oscar Wild=
e a chamou de =E2=80=9Co ref=C3=BAgio preferido do comprador art=C3=ADstico=
=E2=80=9D. Ver essa chegada ao Brasil, no momento em que o design recupera =
o ornamento como linguagem leg=C3=ADtima, =C3=A9 perceber que decorar volta=
 a ser mais que compor espa=C3=A7os: =C3=A9 criar superf=C3=ADcies que emoc=
ionam, contam hist=C3=B3rias e se tornam mem=C3=B3ria. E poucas marcas trab=
alham a cor de maneira t=C3=A3o espetaculosa quanto a Liberty.
Na conversa com Marcio Kogan, ele afirma: "=C3=89 imposs=C3=ADvel ignorar o=
 impacto que esse movimento teve na minha gera=C3=A7=C3=A3o e em todas as q=
ue vieram depois." A fala, l=C3=BAcida e generosa, abre espa=C3=A7o para al=
go que tamb=C3=A9m merece ser lembrado: no pr=C3=B3ximo dia 27,
completam-se 60 anos da morte de Le Corbusier, figura central do modernismo=
 e influ=C3=AAncia direta na forma=C3=A7=C3=A3o de nomes como L=C3=BAcio Co=
sta, Niemeyer e Reidy - e, por consequ=C3=AAncia, de toda uma linguagem arq=
uitet=C3=B4nica brasileira.
A Maison Louis Carr=C3=A9, de Alvar Aalto - sua =C3=BAnica resid=C3=AAncia =
na Fran=C3=A7a - acaba de reabrir ao p=C3=BAblico ap=C3=B3s restaurar facha=
da e jardins, ambos projetados pelo pr=C3=B3prio arquiteto. As obras come=
=C3=A7aram em 2022 e agora foram conclu=C3=ADdas, devolvendo ao conjunto um=
 novo f=C3=B4lego externo. Louis Carr=C3=A9 dizia, na =C3=A9poca, que queri=
a =E2=80=9Cuma casa que fosse pequena por fora e grande por dentro=E2=80=9D=
 - e Aalto materializou esse desejo em volumes contidos e um interior expan=
sivo. Um marco imperd=C3=ADvel para os admiradores da arquitetura moderna q=
ue dialoga com a paisagem, o corpo humano e o tempo presente.
Descobri uma das exposi=C3=A7=C3=B5es mais perturbadoras e po=C3=A9ticas qu=
e j=C3=A1 vi: o Archeoplastica, o =E2=80=9Cmuseu do pl=C3=A1stico=E2=80=9D =
da It=C3=A1lia, com mais de 500 objetos vintage encontrados em praias - mui=
tos intactos desde os anos 1950. Surgiu do achado de uma garrafa de proteto=
r solar Ambre Solaire com pre=C3=A7o em liras, preservada por d=C3=A9cadas.=
 =E2=80=9CVer com os pr=C3=B3prios olhos=E2=80=9D, diz seu idealizador, Enz=
o Suma, faz toda diferen=C3=A7a. =C3=89 um alerta: a natureza devolve nosso=
s t=C3=B3xicos como um espelho - e o pl=C3=A1stico n=C3=A3o desaparece.
Se voc=C3=AA =C3=A9 quase inconveniente, como eu, quando o assunto =C3=A9 t=
rilha sonora - e, principalmente, qualidade de som - anote: no m=C3=AAs pas=
sado abriu a Darsena Listening Suite, no hotel Il Sereno, =C3=A0s margens d=
o Lago de Como. Projeto de Patricia Urquiola, criado com o audi=C3=B3filo L=
uis Contreras, =C3=A9 um ref=C3=BAgio para ouvir m=C3=BAsica como se fosse =
um gesto arquitet=C3=B4nico: McIntosh, Klipsch, vinil e vistas que se disso=
lvem entre =C3=A1gua e c=C3=A9u. Um deleite reservado a raros ouvidos.
Acompanhei as diversas manifesta=C3=A7=C3=B5es na semana passada contra a c=
onstru=C3=A7=C3=A3o da ponte do Estreito de Messina, que ligar=C3=A1 a Sic=
=C3=ADlia ao continente. Com 3,7 km e custo estimado em =E2=82=AC13,5 bilh=
=C3=B5es, ser=C3=A1 a maior ponte de v=C3=A3o =C3=BAnico do mundo, prometen=
do empregos e transforma=C3=A7=C3=A3o na mobilidade. O projeto divide opini=
=C3=B5es: defensores celebram o marco de engenharia; cr=C3=ADticos alertam =
para riscos s=C3=ADsmicos, impactos ambientais e at=C3=A9 infiltra=C3=A7=C3=
=A3o mafiosa.
Na semana passada, vi alguns ve=C3=ADculos internacionais comentando sobre =
a revitaliza=C3=A7=C3=A3o da Ladeira da Miseric=C3=B3rdia - enquanto, no Br=
asil, pouco se fala sobre o risco de gentrifica=C3=A7=C3=A3o por l=C3=A1. C=
oncebido por Lina Bo Bardi nos anos 1980 para preservar o centro vivo de Sa=
lvador, o projeto ter=C3=A1 reabertura em parceria da prefeitura com o Inst=
ituto Bardi e a plataforma Piv=C3=B4. Motivos para cautela n=C3=A3o faltam:=
 hot=C3=A9is de luxo, restaurantes caros e galerias de arte j=C3=A1 ocupam =
pr=C3=A9dios hist=C3=B3ricos pr=C3=B3ximos, transformando o entorno em um c=
ircuito tur=C3=ADstico de acesso restrito =C3=A0 elite econ=C3=B4mica.

r tropicalizado. &#201; imposs&#237;vel ignorar o impacto que esse moviment=
o teve na minha gera&#231;&#227;o e em todas as que vieram depois. Num segu=
ndo momento, nomes como Lina Bo Bardi e Paulo Mendes da Rocha reinventaram =
essa tradi&#231;&#227;o, ampliando suas possibilidades e tra&#231;ando novo=
s caminhos para a arquitetura brasileira. A partir deles, formou-se um conj=
unto de valores que moldaram uma identidade nacional muito pr&#243;pria: um=
a arquitetura sem excessos, racional, mas profundamente sens&#237;vel ao cl=

rdos que existem. A rua &#233; p&#250;blica - deveria ser tratada como tal,=
 com o mesmo cuidado. A prefeitura &#233; desconectada da cidade e da sua h=
